It's hard to believe we're already turning the calendar page once again, scurrying into June and half-way through 2018. Time sure seems to fly these days...
Spring flowers are giving way to summer fruit that are forming on tree branches, but the most noticeable difference is the light that pours through my bedroom window at 5am, yet doesn't seem to set till about 9pm. The long, hot days of summer approacheth! And I CAN'T WAIT!
But what causes all of these changes that make the summer season so, well, summer-like?
It actually is a pretty grand force--on a planetary scale--that creates these characteristics. And we can thank the Sun, our elliptical orbit and what we know as the Summer Solstice for the longer days, warmer temps, even those deliciously ripe peaches we'll soon get to enjoy.
And just in case you were wondering, the Summer Solstice this year is June 21st, so you can expect a little extra light each day till then.
Guess we actually do get a few more hours in a day during this time of year! Use them to get out and enjoy life rather than stay a little longer at the office. After all, time is flying by!
