Renew with the "Happy” Hormone

Progesterone is known as the “happy” hormone, and for good reason. Synthesized in the central nervous system, progesterone distinctly effects nerve function and therefore mood and calmness, reducing feelings of anxiety and depression. Catherine Rollins of the National Progesterone Advisory Network writes,

“If you give a woman back her progesterone - her mother hormone, her essence hormone - you give her back an opportunity to reconnect with herself. This remarkable hormone just seems to give women the ability to tackle her problems with perception and renewed mental acuity.”

Without progesterone women may begin to feel overwhelmed and easily stressed, leading to anxiety issues including tension headaches, palpitations, digestive issues and in some cases, panic disorders. Progesterone is known to enhance the already calming effect of GABA. It’s anti-anxiety effect, which has been compared to that found with benzodiazepine drugs but without the risk of addiction, is noticed by some in as little as ten minutes.

Progesterone is produced by the ovaries at ovulation and/or by the placenta during pregnancy. As we age and no longer ovulate, progesterone is produced (to a lesser degree) by the adrenal glands, which can become depleted with this extra burden. During times of stress, the body primarily manufactures the hormone cortisol, therefore the other hormones suffer, chiefly the calming hormone progesterone. The more stressed you are, the more suppressed progesterone production becomes, often exacerbating anxiety symptoms and other signs of Adrenal Fatigue.

Anxiety and depression during perimenopause and menopause is very common. All too often, primary care doctors, psychiatrists and gynecologists prescribe SSRI medications like Zoloft or Prozac to treat these conditions. When, supplementing with bio-identical progesterone naturally helps balance all of the hormones in the body, bring relief while providing many great health benefits.

Feminine Balance Therapy safely and effectively restores healthy progesterone levels to support hormonal balance and ease the symptoms associated with PMS, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), perimenopause and menopause.
