General Questions

Q: How long has Organic Excellence been in business?
Organic Excellence began in 1999 as a home-based business to meet the needs of chemically sensitive family members. We were among the first completely toxin-free brands in the marketplace at that time.

Q: Are your products safe for people with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity?
Yes, in fact many of our customers suffer from MCS. They not only tolerate our products well, they love the results they bring.

Q: What do you use in your products as preservatives?
Our toxin-free products are preserved with all natural ingredients including certified Rosemary Extract, Grape Seed Extract and Vegetable Glycerin, which work exceptionally well to support an extended efficacy rate and shelf life. Please see our Ingredient Glossary for a list of the ingredients we do and do not use.

Q: What is the shelf life of your products?
Testing shows that our products are shelf stable for well over two years, however we mark them with a 2-year expiration date.

Q: Where do the herbs in your products come from?
We use herbs sourced from the USA. The majority of our herbal ingredients are certified organic.

Q: Are your products USDA certified organic?
While our products are plant-based and include many certified organic ingredients, as a small family operated company, we’ve chosen not to move forward with the very costly and time consuming process of becoming USDA certified at this time.

Q: Where are your products made?
: The Organic Excellence products are made in a highly sophisticated state-of-the-art facility in Phoenix, AZ. by a Master Chemist with 40 years of experience.

Q: Are there ingredients in your products other than what's listed?

Q: Do you use any soy or corn ingredients?
No as these are typically GMO ingredients. Each of our products are non-GMO.

Q: What is your lecithin sourced from?
As a plant-based company, we use Lecithin sourced from sunflower seeds.

USP Bio-Identical Progesterone Creams

Q: How do I know if I need progesterone?
If you have the signs and symptoms of a hormonal imbalance, progesterone provides safe and effective results. As the "master" hormone, progesterone has the unique ability to help balance all of the hormones of the body, taking the guess work out out achieving symptom relief and natural hormonal balance.

Q: I'd like to have my hormones tested. What do you suggest?
A: We offer convenient hormone test kits, delivered to your door! Our At-Home Test Kits accurately determine your hormone levels so you can choose the progesterone cream and additional supplements to best support you. Order your At-Home Test Kits here.

Q: Why is progesterone cream better than prescribed pills?
It’s important to note that prescribed progesterone is nearly always a synthetically manufactured hormone and is actually called Progestin. Progestin is inaccurately referred to as progesterone, and was originally added to HRT to help counteract the harmful side-effects and health risks associated with synthetic estrogen. However, Progestin has harmful side effects of its own. Bio-identical progesterone, on the other hand, is free of contradictions, side effects or health risks.

Q: Why is progesterone applied topically?
A: We follow the strict guidelines established by Dr. John Lee, the pioneer of progesterone research. According to Dr. Lee, transdermal application allows progesterone to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Oral progesterone is nearly always synthetic and 80% to 90% of the oral dose is lost through the liver.

Q: What makes the Organic Excellence progesterone creams special?A: Our progesterone creams are both USP regulated and bio-identical. Many progesterone creams on the market include endocrine disrupting chemicals that can be counter-productive. Our progesterone cream products free of all endocrine disrupting chemicals and are toxin-free and plant-based. They are made in the USA in small batches to assure optimum results.

Q: What is USP?
USP stands for United States Pharmacopia. This is a quality assurance regulatory commission that oversees strict standards of quality control. Always look for USP on progesterone cream labels to be assured of the highest quality product available.

Q: What does “bio-identical” mean?
Bio-identical means that a substance is recognized by the body as being identical to what is naturally produced. Thus, your body knows just what to do with that substance, as opposed to a synthetically made ingredient.

Q: What does "micronized" progesterone mean?
A: Micronized progesterone is a bio-identical hormone with a molecular structure identical to that of progesterone naturally produced by the body. This  is the (chemical-free) laboratory process of reducing the average diameter of a solid material's particles. Our certified organic Wild Yam Root is micronized to render truly bio-identical progesterone.

Q: How do I know which progesterone cream is right for me?
A: Women experiencing PMS, PCOS, fertility issues and/or perimenopause (estrogen dominance) benefit from Feminine Balance Therapy. Women in menopause and beyond experiencing estrogen deficiency, benefit from Balance Plus Therapy, our cream with added phytoestrogens. Please click here to learn more.

Q: How much progesterone is in your progesterone creams?
We formulate our progesterone creams to meet the strict criteria outlined by Dr. John R. Lee, MD; the pioneer of progesterone research, and contain approximately 500 mg. per ounce. Each 1/4 teaspoon provides approximately 20 mg. of progesterone. Balance Plus Therapy also provides 60 mg. of phytoestrogens per ¼ teaspoon application.

Q: How many applications are in your two sizes of progesterone cream?
The 2 ounce jar has approximately 48 ¼ teaspoon applications and our 3 oz. pumps have approximately 72 pre-measured ¼ teaspoon applications.

Q: What are phytoestrogens?
Phytoestrogens are plant based ingredients that naturally enhance the production of estrogen by stimulating the estrogen receptors in your body. This is the most natural, safe and effective way to increase estrogen levels in women during menopause and beyond, or following a hysterectomy.

Q: Do women with fertility issues benefit from progesterone cream?
Infertility and miscarriages are often associated with low progesterone levels in the body. Progesterone therapy is used in fertility clinics and may be helpful in both conceiving and supporting a full-term pregnancy. Choose Feminine Balance Therapy, our bio-identical progesterone cream without phytoestrogens.

Q: Can pregnant women use your progesterone creams?
Yes! Our progesterone creams are safe to use during pregnancy. In fact, many medical doctors recommend that women use progesterone cream during the first trimester of pregnancy until the placenta becomes able to produce sufficient progesterone. Choose Feminine Balance Therapy to assist in conceiving and while pregnant.

Q: Does progesterone cream help with PCOS?
It can be very helpful, yes. PCOS is associated with hormonal imbalances, primarily elevated levels of the male hormones known as androgens. Feminine Balance Therapy naturally supports hormonal balance in women with PCOS.

Q: Is progesterone cream safe to use while breastfeeding?
It is. In fact, many medical doctors recommend progesterone cream for post-partum depression, and it is safe to use while nursing.

Q: Do men benefit from progesterone cream?
Absolutely and we’ve formulated a progesterone cream exclusively for men! Masculine Balance Therapy USP bio-identical progesterone cream helps to enhance testosterone levels and balance an excess of estrogen in men. The added benefits of Saw Palmetto and Pumpkin Seed oil support prostate health and other male hormonal imbalances during Andropause.

Q: What is Andropause?
Andropause is a term used for men with hormonal imbalances, especially after the age of 40 and is often referred to as “male menopause.” Learn more about Andropause by clicking this link.

Q: That Prop 65 warning is scary. Why is it on your product labels?
A: The synthetic hormone progestin is incorrectly associated with natural bio-identical progesterone. Although we use micronized certified organic Wild Yam to make our progesterone creams, the Prop 65 warning is therefore required on our product labels. Read more about Prop 65 here.

Sulfate-Free Hair Care

Q: What makes your shampoo lather?
Sodium Lauryl/Laureth are harsh, toxic agents that create an abundance of lather. This combination of ingredients do create a slight, smooth lather.

Q: Do your shampoos help reduce hair loss?
We do utilize specific ingredients that are proven to aid in the reduction of hair loss.

Q: Why do you add essential oils in your hair care products?
We use specific essential oils for their therapeutic qualities. For example, certified organic spearmint oil soothes the skin while peppermint oil, refreshes and clarifies. Chamomile Extract is traditionally used to help soften the skin and may improve tissue regeneration. Some essential oils also act as very effective natural preservatives.

Q: Do your conditioners cause that have feeling so many others do?
No, and our customers frequently comment on that fact. They love how our Wild Mint Conditioner moisturizes and adds body without building up.

Q: Do you have an unscented shampoo and conditioner?
Yes, we’ve formatted Simply Unscented Shampoo and Simply Unscented Conditioner for those who prefer a neutral smell.

Anti-Aging Skin Care

Q: What is the percentage of vitamin C in Skin Renewal Therapy?
Skin Renewal Therapy boasts a potent 6.5% vitamin C content.

Q: Does the silk protein in Anti-Aging Therapy come from the Silkworm?
Our Silk Protein is not from the silk worm or any other animal source.

Q: What is your lecithin sourced from?
As a plant-based company, we use Lecithin sourced from sunflower seeds.

Fragrance-Free Joint Creams

Q: What's the difference in your two joint health products?
We use several of the same highly effective ingredients in each, however the percentage of those ingredients is different. Joint PainTherapy contains a higher percentage of Glucosamine Sulfate and MSM to specifically target the joints, while Inflammation Relief Therapy has a higher percentage of the natural anti-inflammatory ingredients Pregnenolone, Ginger Extract and MSM.

This page is to inform and educate California consumers only.

The State of California requires specific warnings to consumers about products that contain chemicals on the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) list of substances that are labeled by OEHHA as carcinogens (substances that can cause cancer) or are called reproductive toxicants (substances believed to cause reproductive harm).

In 1986 the voters of the State of California adopted the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Hazard Enforcement Act (so-called “Prop (or Proposition) 65”). Prop 65 authorized the establishment of the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, whose mission it is to identify and list substances it believes are hazards to the health of California residents.

The official web site of OEHHA can be reached through the following link: California Prop 65 Web Site (http://www.oehha.ca.gov/prop65.html)

Types of Substances Listed

Substances can either be added to the list or removed from the list based upon scientific testing or a declaration by some authoritative body or group. Currently there are in excess of 770 substances listed by OEHHA.These substances range from naturally occurring substances such as vitamins, minerals, natural human hormones, and more to synthetically produced substances such as many chemicals used in food colorings, hair dyes, cosmetics, automotive fuels, synthetic hormones for human use, and more.

Natural progesterone is listed as progesterone. While it is identical to human progesterone, it is nonetheless on the Prop 65 List as a substance “known to the State of California to cause cancer.”

Prop 65 Requirement:

California's Prop 65 requires consumer warnings in a variety of acceptable formats; however, there are some specific exemptions to this requirement [which really make no sense, but it's the law].

While Organic Excellence is EXEMPT from warning requirements, some of our resellers may, in fact, not be. To this end, we provide special warning labels to these retailers. "Stand-alone" warning labels require the following statement: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer. Where the reseller provides a "master warning message," the language on the label can vary as long as the information is available to the consumer. The purpose of this page is to provide that information to California residents.
